Residents Find Doors Kicked In

Criminal kicked in doors at two area homes during the weekend, leaving damages in their wake but apparently leaving before stealing anything.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department reports show that deputies were dispatched to investigate the first matter at a home situated at 29 Ridge Lane, after 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

The resident reported he had been away from his home for an approximately three-hour period. During that time, he reported, someone kicked in the door to the basement. When he discovered the vandalism, the victim said the door was standing ajar about eight inches.

Nothing appeared to be missing from the home, however damages were estimated at $200.

The second such victim reported he discovered damages to his home after returning from church Sunday. He indicated he had left around 8:30 a.m. to attend church services, returning to his 248 Durham Road home around 1:30 p.m. He found that the garage door had been kicked open, but could find nothing disturbed or missing.

Damages in the second case were estimated at $100.
