Armed Landlord Startles Residents

Law enforcement officers dispatched when local residents reported an armed man trying to get into their home, discovered that the “man” was actually the property owner.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies were dispatched to the Tingle Trapp Road home shortly before 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

When they arrived, the husband of one resident told them the armed man was on the porch at the back door.

Deputies report that the property owner was, indeed, at the back door, armed with a revolver. They note, however, that he has a valid handgun carry permit.

He told deputies that he had stopped by the home three times that day, but had not found anyone to be home. He said he had come back when he heard people at the home, so that he could collect the rent.

He said that he had been unable to get anyone to come to the door, and that he was then approached by the husband.

One of the residents told deputies she had been staying with her mother at the home, but that she had never met the landlord. She said that his arrival had frightened her, prompting her to call for help from her husband.

No charges were issued in connection with the case.
