Scholl Indicted In Wife’s Murder

A Lawrence County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against a Lawrenceburg man, charging him with murder in connection with the July, 2009 stabbing death of his wife.

The indictment was returned against twenty-nine-year-old Samuel James Scholl. Scholl was arrested on one count of first degree murder last year in connection with the death of his wife Polly Anna Scholl, 33. She died as the result of injuries she sustained during a domestic altercation inside her Oak Grove Apartments home.

At the time the incident occurred Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore reported that officers with her department were initially summoned to a home on Clayton Street on an unwanted person call. The unwanted person, officers reported, was gone upon their arrival. Witnesses, however, reported they feared the man had harmed his wife.

Officers quickly made their way to the couple’s apartment. When the manager opened the door to the home, officers report they found Polly Anna Scholl lying on the hallway floor, “covered in blood.” Scholl had reportedly sustained several serious injuries, including injuries to her head and stab wounds. School was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where she later died.

Samuel Scholl was quickly apprehended and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He was later ordered to undergo a mental evaluation in order to assess his sate of mind.

After hearing evidence regarding the case, members of the grand jury opted to return an indictment against Samuel Scholl, charging him with the first degree murder charge.
