Residents Discover Abandoned Cash Register

   Authorities seized a cash register that had been found abandoned near a northwest Lawrence home early Monday.

   Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department indicate that the call regarding the discovery was received at approximately 8:10 a.m.

   A resident of 481 Hudson Road told deputies that his daughter had made the discovery. She had found the cash register lying near the road on their property.

   Deputies recovered the cash register and transported it back to the sheriff’s department pending further investigation. At the time reports were filed they had not yet identified the owner.

   The matter is under continued investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
