Items Stolen During Burglary Of Five Points Home

A resident of the Five Points area reported to authorities last week that a number of items of personal property were stolen when her home was burglarized.

The victim, age 24, reported the crime to Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday. She reported discovering that someone had broken into both her house and shed.

The victim showed deputies where the culprit had gained entry to the home by breaking a bedroom window on the rear of the home. She reported that five 1968 Chevelle die cast model cars had been taken from the hall closet.

After burglarizing the house the culprit broke into the shed, gaining access by pulling the door from its rollers. Several items were missing from inside the shed including mufflers, drills, a black bag, set of wheels, and two car engines.

The victim said that the culprit had attempted to gain entry to another area of the shed by pulling back a piece of tin. She told deputies that stored inside was a 1968 Chevelle that had belonged to her deceased father.

Damages and loss resulting from the crime were estimated to be in excess of $1,700.
