Antique Guitar Stolen From Iron City Home

An Iron City resident reported to authorities last week that a valuable, antique guitar had been stolen from his home.

The victim summoned deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to his home on Wayland Springs Road on Thursday. He reported that a 1962 Fender Jaguar electric guitar had gone missing. He said that he had not played the guitar in approximately four months.

The culprit had removed the guitar from the case, then returned the case to a spot next to his bed in order to avoid immediate detection.

The victim told deputies that he was uncertain exactly when the theft had occurred, but that he had noticed an inconsistency a couple of weeks prior. He said that he had discovered that the door leading form the garage into the house had been left partially open.

He said that at that time he had walked through the house and looked around, but that he had not noticed that anything was missing.

The victim reported that because he had previously sustained some damage to his exterior door, the culprit likely gained access in this manner.

The victim said that the guitar had been appraised at one point and that it was valued at $10,000.
