Resident Returns To Find Pets Killed

A resident of the Summertown area returned home Sunday to find her pets had been killed.

The victim, a resident of 160 Dukes Park Road, summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to her home around 10:00 p.m. She stated that her father had stopped by to feed her four outside dogs, one inside dog and one cat around 8:00 that morning. A friend had then stopped by to feed at 2:00 p.m.

According to the victim, she and her three children returned around 10 o’clock to find the four outside dogs and her cat lying dead. The inside dog, she reported, was still alive, but very weak.

Deputies found that two of the dogs had foamy saliva around their mouths. An investigator with the department advised the victim to carry the dog that was still living to her veterinarian and have it tested for various toxins.

Investigation into the matter is continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has knowledge of the incident is urged to contact the department at 762-3626.
