Resident Cited For Damages Caused By Dog

A citation was issued to a Loretto resident during the weekend when a neighbor reported his dog had repeatedly caused damages to her home while chasing her cats.

The victim summoned deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to her Old Jackson Highway home around 6:00 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, deputies note that she had her neighbor’s dog restrained, awaiting their arrival.

The victim reported that she had found the dog underneath her mobile home, chasing her cats. She said this has been an on-going problem, and that the incidents have resulted in damages to the plastic sheeting beneath the home as well as the underpinning.

When notified, the owner promptly apologized and retrieved his dog, securing it at his residence. Because it has been an on-going problem, the owner was issued a citation charging him with allowing his dog to roam at large. He will be required to answer the charge in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on March 19, 2013.
