Section Of Pulaski Highway To Be Closed Several Weeks For Work On Flood Control Project

Motorists are being advised that a section of Pulaski Highway will soon be inaccessible due to work on the City of Lawrenceburg’s flood control project.

Emergency Management Agency Director Joe Baxter said that the section of highway that lies east of Locust Avenue, extending to the Pulaski Street intersection is scheduled to close on Tuesday, February 25 and remain closed for several weeks.

Baxter said crews will be working to replace a box culvert that runs beneath the highway. The current eight foot culvert will be replaced with a twenty foot culvert. This will allow greater amounts of flood waters to be channeled beneath the highway, to Shoal Creek.

Since the work is expected to take several weeks to complete, motorists will need to find an alternate route when traveling through this area. Traffic will be directed to Pulaski Street, rejoining the highway at the Pulaski Highway/Pulaski Street intersection.

Officials with E.O. Coffman Middle School have informed parents that this will result in some changes in regards to student drop off/pick up. They said that during the construction period that section of Pulaski Street will be open to thru-traffic only.

Parents who normally drop off or pick up students in the vicinity of the football field will need to find another place to do so, or else join the regular traffic flow along Lafayette Street.
