Relative admits to stealing, pawning $5,000 worth of jewelry

A local man was arrested last week after he allegedly confessed to stealing a large number of jewelry items from a relative, then pawning them to obtain cash.

The items were reported stolen by a resident of Waterloo Road. She told deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department that the items stolen included six rings, two pairs of earrings, and a necklace with a combined value of more than $5,000.

The victim reported that she had last seen the items in January and did not realize they were missing until February 11. She suspected they might have been taken by a relative who had visited her home and checked with local pawn shops. She said pawn shop employees were able to confirm that the items had been sold to them by her relative.

Deputies made contact with the relative and he agreed to come in for questioning. During the interview, he reportedly admitted that he had taken, and pawned the jewelry.

Steven Tyler McFall, a twenty-seven year old resident of 413 Hoffman Street, Lawrenceburg, was arrested on a charge of theft of property over $1,000 and subsequently incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center.
