Vehicle Stolen When Owner Leaves It Running To “Warm Up”

A vehicle left by the owner to warm on Friday was apparently stolen, then found where it had been wrecked and abandoned.

The owner, age 44, called that morning to report that she had started her vehicle outside her home and left it to warm, then returned to find that it had been stolen.  She reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies that she had started the car around 5:10 a.m., returning at 5:30 to discover the theft.

Reports show that the vehicle had been located at the intersection of Staggs and Henryville Roads where it had been wrecked and abandoned. Inside, deputies report finding blood along with a golf club and other items believed to have been stolen during a burglary on Buffalo Road.

The vehicle was towed for processing. Investigation is currently continuing by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
