LHS Band Participates In MTSU Wind Band Conference
Congratulations to members of the Loretto High School Band for being selected to participate in the Middle Tennessee State University Wind Band Conference on February 6-8, 2014.
The students auditioned for chair placements on Thursday evening February 6 by performing major scales and sight-reading.
The conference hosted guest conductors Dr. Chris Baumgartner, formerly from the University of Missouri and now the assistant director at Middle Tennessee State University, Mr. Ishbah Cox from Purdue University, and Dr. Markus Mauderer from the Academy of Music in Staufen Germany. The students did very well on their auditions.
Ricky Stephens placed 7th chair trumpet in the concert band, Chelsea Herston placed 9th chair clarinet in the wind ensemble, Peyton Hunt placed 2nd chair euphonium in the symphonic band, Micah Bedingfield placed 6th chair trumpet in the symphonic band, Hannah Graves placed 3rd chair French horn in the symphonic band and Jackie Box placed 5th chair euphonium in the symphonic band.
After auditions the students were in rehearsals with these guest conductors all day Friday and Saturday morning, concluding the wonderful weekend with a great concert Saturday afternoon.
