Undercover Operation Nets Arrest
An undercover operation targeting drug activity in the Iron City area has resulted in the arrest of a South Lawrence man.
Lawrence County Sheriff Jimmy Brown issued a press release Thursday, reporting the arrest of seventy-two year old Malcolm Lee Willis who resides at 211 Cherry Avenue in Saint Joseph.
Information released indicates that agents with Brown’s department, along with officers with the Saint Joseph Police Department, conducted the operation. As a result of evidence gathered, they report that Willis was arrested on charges of possession of Schedule III narcotics for the purpose of resale.
Officials indicate that at the time of his arrest, Willis had been free under state probation in connection with prior drug offenses. Brown said that Willis’ arrest has been reported to the State of Tennessee and that additional charges will likely be forthcoming.
Willis was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center under a bond of $20,000.
