Third Individual Charged After Fleeing From Officers

Charges have been issued against a third individual accused of fleeing from officers during a traffic stop last week.

Lawrenceburg Police officers reported that when the stop was initiated the driver had fled, turning into the parking lot at B&K Apartments on Mahr Avenue, then driving behind the building.

When they caught up, officers report that only Brian Lance Dial of Ethridge had remained in the car. Although Dial was pulling the car into a parking space, witnesses reported he had not been the original driver. They said that the male driver had fled on foot as did a female passenger.

Later, officers conducted a search at the Jacobs Drive home of passenger Brittany Lee Burns, age 26. They reported finding various drugs and items of drug paraphernalia.

She was subsequently arrested on charges of promotion of the manufacture of meth, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and three counts of simple possession.

Dial was issued a citation for the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, officers reported that the original driver, twenty-five year old Richard Taz Davis of Byrd Road, was found to be the passenger during a second traffic stop.

Officers were aware that warrants had been issued against Davis. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center.

During a statement Davis reportedly admitted he had evaded arrest. He told officers that he had run because, “He had a large amount of drugs,” in his possession.

Reports show that Davis claimed ownership of all illegal items found inside Burns’ apartment. He was incarcerated under charges that include evading arrest, promotion of the manufacture of meth, possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and three counts of simple possession.

Davis has been scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on March 6, 2014.
