Suspicious Purchase Of Cold Meds Investigated

Law enforcement officers summoned to a Lawrenceburg pharmacy Monday evening to investigate a suspicious purchase of cold medication, subsequently issued citations to one individual.

According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department officers were called to Walgreens Pharmacy shortly before 9: 30 p.m.

Employees reported that there was a female inside the store who appeared to be intoxicated. They said it appeared that she was trying to get a male patron to purchase pseudoephedrine for her.

When they arrived, officers report the suspect was walking out with a man. They confronted the pair at the man’s truck. When questioned, the man explained the woman had given him money to purchase the cold medication for her. He admitted he had told the pharmacist he was purchasing the medication for himself “because he had a cold.”

Officers report speaking with the woman, twenty-four-year-old Whitley Nycole Bradley of 501 Claymar Drive. Bradley said she had gotten the man to purchase the medication because she did not have her identification with her and could not make the purchase herself.

Officers noted that there was an odor of burnt marijuana about Bradley. When questioned, they said she admitted she had smoked marijuana earlier in the evening.

She was found to be in possession of twelve, one-milligram Lorazepam pills for which she had no prescription as well as a marijuana bong.

Bradley was issued citations charging her with the crimes of illegal possession of Schedule IV narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers indicate they may present evidence against her to an upcoming session of the Lawrence County Grand Jury, seeking charges of promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine.
