Child Airlifted Following Thursday Morning Crash

A five year old passenger in one of three vehicles involved in a crash west of Lawrenceburg Thursday morning, was airlifted to a Nashville hospital for medical attention.

According to officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol the crash occurred around 7:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 64 West, just west of the Robertson Road intersection. Trooper Jamie Benefield reports that all three vehicles were eastbound at the time. In total, seven individuals were effected by the crash.

The first driver, Cecilee Kilburn, 20, of Savannah, was reportedly followed by drivers Drew Kilburn, 21, of West Point, and Robert Keasling, Jr., 25, of Lawrenceburg. Drew Kilburn had apparently stopped for a school bus, however Keasling, Jr., told troopers he had failed to stop because the sun was in his eyes and he could not see that the vehicles in front of him had stopped. The impact of Keasling, Jr.’s, truck into the rear of Drew Kilburn’s truck, pushed the middle vehicle into the rear of Cecliee Kilburn’s car.

Officials indicate that Cecilee Kilburn was uninjured, as was passenger Jessie Davis, 20, of Adamsville. Passenger Kathy Winters, 45, of Adamsville, was transported to Crockett Hospital for medical attention.

Drew Kilburn was the sole occupant of his vehicle. Reports show that he was transported to Crockett Hospital, as well.

Driver Robert Keasling, Jr., along with his passenger, Isaiah Lyles, 7, of Summertown, was transported to Crockett Hospital. His second passenger, Jacob Henson, age 5, was airlifted by Air Evac Lifeteam to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

While Benefield stated that no charges had been placed in connection with the crash, he did indicate that although the youngsters had been placed in car seats, they had not been properly restrained.
