Home Burns To Ground While Owner Incarcerated

   Law enforcement agents made contact with a local man incarcerated at the Maury County Jail early Thursday morning, to inform him that his house had burned to the ground.

   Emergency personnel received the callout to 1095 North Brace Road at 3:30 a.m. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies report that when they arrived on the scene members of the Summertown Fire Department were working to extinguish the blaze, but that the home had already collapsed onto the ground.

   Neighbors were able to provide the name of the owner, indicating that he was currently incarcerated in Maury County.

   Deputies report shortly they made contact with owner William Howard Gray through the Maury County Sheriff’s Department. He told deputies there had been no power to the home in around a year. Also, he reported that unidentified persons had been entering the home repeatedly via the rear door.

   Loss for the house and contents was estimated to total $15,000.
