Driver Runs Through Mailboxes, Garbage Cans And Fences
A Lawrenceburg man faces numerous charges after he reportedly ran off the roadway while driving in the vicinity of Old Florence Road in the early hours Friday, smashing through the fences, mailboxes and garbage containers belonging to at least five different homeowners.
Damages as a result of the incident neared $3,000 for all those affected. (Arrest info) faces five separate counts of vandalism (OTHER) in connection with the series of incidents.
Residents of 615 Old Florence Road summoned Lawrenceburg Police Officers to their home when they found that their mailbox and chain link fence had been smashed. They estimated damages to total $1,650. While checking about the area, officers discovered a trail of damage leading across Old Florence Road and onto Garner Lane.
Residents of 675 Old Florence Road report they discovered their mailbox was damaged as well as their garbage can. Total loss was estimated at $150.
Officers made their way to nearby 835 Old Florence Road next where homeowners reported damages of approximately $200 to their property. They indicated that the culprit had driven off the roadway, striking their mailbox and garbage can.
At 855 Old Florence Road residents estimated some $250 in damage had been left in the wake of the driver in question. The resident reported his mailbox and chain link fence had sustained damages.
While following the trail of damages, officers report they came upon what appeared to be tracks left by a vehicle with a flat tire. They report following the tracks to a home on Sanders Lane in Leoma.
There, they made contact with driver John Wayne Odom, Jr., age 22, who resides at 415 Main Street, Saint Joseph. Officers report Odom was arrested on five counts of vandalism and was transported to the Lawrence County jail without incident.
Odom is scheduled for an initial appearance through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on March 5, 2010.
