Thieves Take Vacuum Cleaner After Breaking Into Church

Law enforcement officials were summoned to initiate an investigation Tuesday after members of Beech Grove Baptist Church discovered the building had been burglarized.

A church members summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies to the church, situated at 380 Mt. Lebanon Road, around 5:45 p.m. He reported that he had been at the church the previous evening and that the building had been secured.

When he returned to check the mail Tuesday, he discovered that a window had been broken. He quickly summoned assistance. On arrival, deputies cleared the building, allowing the complainant to assess any damages.

Reports show that the culprits kicked open the office door, shattering the frame. A filing cabinet was pried open and the office ransacked. The only item that appeared to be missing was a vacuum cleaner. Deputies found that the vacuum cleaner accessories had been left outside a window.

Damages and loss as a result of the burglary were estimated to total $510. Investigation in the matter is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
