Woman Arrested For Filing False Complaint Against Ex

Weekend police reports show that a Lawrenceburg woman was arrested Saturday for falsely reporting that her ex-husband was allowing underage drinking inside his home.

The call, received through Lawrence Central Dispatch around 10:30 Saturday evening, indicated that loud music was emanating from an Adkins Lane home and that the resident was allowing underage drinking inside.

When Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene they report they heard no music whatsoever. When approached the resident said that he was the only person present and that he had not been consuming alcohol. He led deputies through the home, allowing them to determine that he was correct.

Investigation led deputies to question the victim’s ex-wife at her Garrett Avenue home. They allege that she was the person who placed the call, and that she knowingly gave false information.

Deputies questioned resident Sondra Venessa Estes, 39, regarding why she had given false information of a crime.  She told deputies when she had spoken to her ex-husband earlier “it sounded like there was a party going on at his house” and that “there was probably underage drinking going on.”

Estes was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center without incident. She was booked under one count of filing a false police report.

Estes is scheduled to answer the charge on February 14, 2011 in Lawrence County General Sessions Court.
