Two Charged In Saturday Night Stabbing, Children Taken Into State Custody

Two persons were jailed and four children removed from their home in the wake of a stabbing incident that occurred Saturday night, leaving one man seriously injured.

An investigation into the crime was launched after officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were summoned to Crockett Hospital regarding a stabbing.

The victim, Lawrenceburg resident Joshua Wheat, age 29, was treated at the hospital emergency room for numerous stab wounds to the torso as well as cuts along his arms. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for additional medical care.

Investigation revealed that Wheat had sustained his injuries during an altercation with William Clint Tucker, 25, at a home on Rayfield Avenue. Officers made their way to the home and arrested Tucker on charges of aggravated assault and four counts of reckless endangerment. He was subsequently jailed at the Lawrence County Detention Center without bond.

Investigation into the stabbing spawned a second investigation when officers found that four children were inside the home at the time of the altercation.

Reports show that the youngsters’ mother, Wheat’s girlfriend, had been involved in the altercation, as well. Investigators dispatched to the scene report that, while intoxicated, Therasa Tucker, age 30, allegedly retrieved a handgun from a lockbox, then recklessly fired the weapon into the floor.

In addition, investigators report that the youngsters were “living in deplorable conditions.” They noted that beer cans littered the home, that there was a large amount of blood on the floor, and that the living conditions were unsafe and posed a hazard to the wellbeing of the children.

Therasa Tucker was arrested on four counts of reckless endangerment, four counts of child neglect and one count of unlawful carrying/possession of a firearm. She is currently held at the local jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.

The children were removed from the home and taken into the custody of the Department of Children’s Services.

Both Tuckers are scheduled to answer the charges against them in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on March 4, 2011.
