Outbuilding At School Is Vandalized

Substantial vandalism of an outbuilding at one local school is the subject of an investigation undertaken Sunday through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were called to Lawrenceburg Public School, 600 Prosser Road, around 2:30 p.m. Principal Janet Alexander told them that employees had discovered the damages to an outbuilding on the property.

Reports show that the culprit had removed numerous stones from the foundation of the building. The act caused the building to shift, then collapse on one end. This, in turn, resulted in further damage to the foundation.

Reports show that three poles were pulled up and broken and one birdhouse smashed. Also, two door handles on a separate building were broken, however the deadbolts remained intact.

Alexander reported this is an on-going problem on the school grounds. Further investigation into the matter has been assigned to detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
