UT Extension Forage Weed Control Specialist To Speak
UT Extension Weed Specialist, Dr. Neil Rhodes will be visiting Lawrence County on Wednesday, February, 5th at 11:30am. to provide an update on the latest forage weed control information.
The meeting will take place at the Lawrence County Extension Office Community Meeting Room. Troublesome pasture and hay weeds are always a challenge for livestock producers. Dr. Rhodes is regionally known for his expertise in the area of forage weed control.
The meeting will conclude with a sponsored lunch. Interested participants should RSVP to the Lawrence County Extension Office at 762-5506 or email Calvin Bryant at ibryant1@utk.edu.
There will also be an opportunity for producers to complete their Private Applicator Recertification prior to the Weed Control Meeting. Beginning at 10am., the Lawrence County Extension Agents will be offering a Private Applicator Recertification Training.
This training will last 1.5 hours and lead into the Forage Weed Control Meeting beginning at 11:30am.
All Private Applicator Cards will be expiring on October 21st 2014. To become recertified producers must attend a Certified Private Applicator Training before October 21st of this year.
The recertification training will last @ 1.5 hour and consist of a pre & post test along with approximately 1 hour of training.
The cost to become recertified will once again be $15. This certification period will be good until October 21st 2017.
A Certified Private Applicator is someone who can legally purchase “Restricted Use Chemicals” for use on their own farm.
Lawrence County Extension has also scheduled a series of Private Applicator Trainings to be offered on March 4th at the Lawrence County Extension Office. Below is the schedule of these trainings:
