Theft Reported From Logging Site

Law enforcement officers were asked to open an investigation Monday after a Five Points logging crew arrived at work to find that the site had been targeted by thieves.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were called to a logging area off of Second Creek Road shortly before 8:00 a.m. Monday.

The victim reported that batteries had been stolen from both his log loader and his haul truck, along with two fire extinguishers.

The culprit attempted to remove a radio from a skidder, but was unable to do so. The victim said the instigator had left the power switch on and killed the battery.

Loss resulting from the crime was said to total approximately $800. Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-3626.
