Councilman Requests Citizens Sign Their Letters

A Lawrenceburg Council member issued a request during a Thursday meeting, asking that residents who submit letters of complaint or concern be sure to sign their submissions.

The matter was brought up for discussion during a meeting of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council Thursday morning. During the council’s bi-monthly business meeting Councilman Jamie Sevier pointed out that in past days he had received an unsigned letter addressing some concerns regarding an incident that occurred inside the city.

“I appreciate correspondence from citizens addressing these concerns,” Sevier explained, “But I wish they would have enough common courtesy to sign them.”

Sevier pointed out that he would be agreeable to maintaining a level of confidence when necessary, but indicates it is much more helpful when he knows with whom he is dealing.

Other members of the council agreed, indicating they, too, often receive unsigned correspondence.

Mayor Keith Durham added, “I typically don’t even consider anything that’s not signed.”
