Resident’s Truck Is Stolen And Trash Dumped

While a resident of the Ethridge area was away from home during the weekend, someone reportedly stole his truck, dumped his trash onto a neighbor’s property, then abandoned the vehicle.

The incident was reported through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department around 9:45 p.m. Victim Stacey W. Dollar, age 39, of 21 Marcella Falls Road, telephoned the department indicating he had been contacted by a neighbor concerning happenings at his home.

The neighbor called Dollar, who was en route from Birmingham at the time, to inform him someone had stolen his 1994, purple and blue, king cab Chevrolet S-10 truck. The neighbor reported watching as someone drove away from his residence in the truck around 8:00 p.m.

Dollar reported that his father-in-law was driving around, looking for the truck. Within a short time he had located it. The truck had been abandoned at the Freedom Hill Road/U.S. Highway 43 intersection.

When Dollar arrived home, he informed deputies that someone had also attempted to break into his home. He found that a window had been busted out, but reported that nothing appeared to be missing. The doors, he said, had remained locked.

In addition to this incident, reports indicate that mail bearing the names of the Dollar family members was found inside bags of discarded garbage. The bags had been dumped onto property belonging to an elderly Alexander Springs Road resident. A neighbor notified deputies that the trash had been dumped approximately fifteen feet off the roadway, on a driveway that ran down the side of the property.

Once a name was obtained from the refuse, deputies report the called the Dollar home, and that two individuals quickly made their way to the property and collected all the garbage.

At the current time the matters remain under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
