Shoplifter diverts attention by falling
Lawrenceburg Now
A woman caught on video shoplifting at a Lawrenceburg business last week reportedly diverted the attention of store employees shortly before by falling.
Employees of Walmart on North Locust Avenue filed a complaint with Lawrenceburg Police officers, indicating that the woman had fallen down prior to the shoplifting incident. As a result an injury report was filled out. They said that, on the report, she gave her name as "Bethany Word" and her address as 114 Thompson Street, Pulaski, TN.
While reviewing security video employees reported noticing that, after the fall, the woman had taken a black purse, valued at $14, and left the store without paying for it.
Once they began to investigate the matter, officers determined that the woman had not provided valid information. They report that there is no Thompson Street in Pulaski and that there was "no information known on a Bethany Word in the State of Tennessee."
The case currently remains under investigation.
