Resident Reports Someone Illegally Staying Inside House
The owner of a Summertown property requested an investigation be initiated Sunday after she discovered that someone had been staying inside her house without her permission.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the Highway 20 property at around 1:30 p.m. The owner said that she has filed reports in past weeks after finding that an intruder had apparently taken up part-time residence inside the house.
Reports show that a window air conditioning unit had been pushed out of a window, allowing the intruder access. Things had been moved about inside. One shelf had been cleared, with everything thrown to the floor.
Also, bottles of water were found inside a bedroom along with peanut butter, maple syrup, a bowl, a spoon, and a cell phone. The items did not belong to the victim.
Although the owner has reported thefts in past complaints, she said she was uncertain whether anything was missing.
Investigation in the matter is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
