Pair Warned In Connection With Amish Harassment Cases

Two men were issued warnings by law enforcement officers Monday night in the wake of complaints regarding harassment at Amish homes.

The complainant reported that occupants of a white truck were acting in a suspicious manner around 8:30 p.m., turning around repeatedly on his property.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department received notification that the driver of the white Ford Ranger had left, heading east on Brooks Hughes Road. A deputy reports stopping the driver on nearby South Brace Road. He reports that both the driver and the passenger had apparently been drinking, but that the driver did perform satisfactorily on field sobriety tests. While the pair admitted they had been driving around the Amish community, they denied having harassed anyone.

The pair was allowed to return to their homes, however the deputy notified them that investigators would be contacting them in regards to a recent vandalism spree in the Amish community. During these past incidents witnesses had reported those responsible were traveling in a small white truck.
