Employees Face Theft Charges

Two employees at a Lawrenceburg grocery store have been arrested on charges that they bilked the company out of hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise.

The employees of the Lawrenceburg Super Rama on North Locust Avenue have each been charged with one count of theft over $500.

Officials with the store reported the theft incidents to Lawrenceburg Police Officers on Thursday, January 22. The indicated that the pair was working together to commit theft by “sliding” groceries and other merchandise through the checkout. Reports show that the pair was ringing up one another’s purchases, but would disable the register before it could make a charge for the items.

Store officials were able to provide investigating officers with video surveillance footage showing the crimes, as well as an audio recording of the employees’ confessions. Both, they reported, had admitted they had participated in the practice for several weeks, stating that the dollar amount stolen would exceed $500.

The two women, Heather Faith Green 38, of 910 Old Florence Road, and Heather Dawn Littrell, 23, of 102 Brink Street, are scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on February 5, 2009.
