Carrier Says He Will Continue Tennessean Delivery

While officials with The Tennessean newspaper have notified subscribers that outlying deliveries will be discontinued through the company itself, the local carrier reports that he plans to continue to make home deliveries.

The notification received by subscribers in recent days indicated that the company will discontinue their part in these delivery processes. The stated that deliveries in these areas “will be turned over to independent contractors who will then decide” whether home delivery is a viable option. They reported that alternatives to home delivery would be subscribing to the paper’s electronic version, picking up papers at designated delivery stations, or utilizing mail subscriptions.

Summertown resident Ricky Holloway, who has been the local carrier for the past few years, indicated Tuesday that he will be the local independent contractor for The Tennessean. He indicated that he plans to continue with deliveries to local homes, however he did point out that to do so he may have to initiate some price increases.

Additional information is expected to be released by The Tennessean in coming weeks.
