Mom Who Had Daughters Help Her Shoplift Is Jailed
A local woman was arrested during the weekend after she was allegedly caught in the act of getting her two teenage daughters to help her shoplift items from a Lawrenceburg business.
Sherri Lynn Amlin, age 38, of Flattwoods Road was arrested by Lawrenceburg Police Officers on charges that include theft of property and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
On Sunday, officers were dispatched to Walmart at the request of Loss Prevention personnel. They reported that a woman inside the store was handing items to two children so that they could open the packages and conceal the merchandise in their bags.
When confronted by officers, the trio admitted to committing the crime and confessed to having stolen items on other dates, as well.
The girls, ages 13 and 14, were issued citations charging them with theft. then released into the custody of a relative. They will be required to appear in Juvenile Court.
Amlin was transported for incarceration at the Lawrence County Detention Center. She was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on March 5, 2015.
