Thieves Make Repeated Trips To Strip Car

A resident of the Five Points area filed complaints with law enforcement officers during the past week after he found that thieves had made repeated trips to his home to pilfer pieces of a car.

The victim summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to his Second Creek Road home Wednesday afternoon. He reported that he had returned to his around 1:30 p.m. to find two men in an old, white, small truck pulling out of his driveway.

The victim told deputies that, although he did not immediately realize the pair had stolen items, he later realized that the items in the rear of the truck appeared to be car seats.

He said that he checked his 1995 Oldsmobile Intrigue and discovered that the leather seats, alternator, CD player and converter had been stolen. He estimated the items had a combined value of $1,000.

The victim told the reporting deputy that he had made a similar complaint involving the same car only two days before. He indicated that he had already contacted the detective investigating the matter to inform him of the second crime.

The victim was able to offer a possible identity of the two men inside the truck, one of whom was the truck owner.
