Lawrenceburg Mom Charged With Neglect Of Young Children

A Lawrenceburg woman has been incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges that she neglected her three small children.

According to a press release issued through the Lawrenceburg Police Department on Wednesday, Tana Charmaine Cannon, 33, was jailed at the detention center Tuesday on three counts of child neglect.

Investigators with the department were dispatched to Cannon’s Fisher Alley home to investigate a complaint indicating that the youngsters were victims of neglect. They report discovering that the children were “living in deplorable conditions.”

Investigators report the home was “very unsanitary and unsuitable for human habitation.” It was reportedly infested with cockroaches, with “very little to no food” present.

The children were transferred into the custody of agents with the Department of Children’s Services.

Cannon, who is held under a bond of $30,000, is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on March 3, 2011.
