Burglar Leaves Evidence Behind

A burglar who targeted a Lawrenceburg home Monday evening left evidence behind when he fled.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department caught the 9:25 call out to the Third Street home. The resident, age 31, told officers she and her children had been away from their home for a time, returning at around 7:00 p.m.

The resident stated she first realized something was amiss when she noticed her laptop computer was half open. It is her custom, she said, to leave her laptop open. She then noticed paper was strewn about the floor and a blind in the living room had been opened.

Soon, the victim said, her children informed her that a window had been opened in her daughter’s bedroom. Lying on the bed, the victim reported finding a brown baseball cap that did not belong to anyone in the household.

The victim told officers her son noticed the movie cabinet was open. That is when she noticed the family’s Nintendo Wii was missing along with four games, four controllers, and the cords.

Also while searching the home, the victim said her brother discovered the screen door to the sun room had been left unlocked. He also found a cord for the Wii lying on the floor next to the door.

Loss as a result of the burglary is estimated at $460.00. The case has been handed over for additional investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation is urged to contact the department at 762-2276.
