Family Friend Breaks Boy’s Tooth With Car Door

A Lawrenceburg woman summoned local law enforcement officers to her home late Friday to report that her friend had broken her son’s tooth by slamming into him with a car door earlier that evening.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 11:30 p.m. call to the family’s Gwinn Road home where they spoke with the mother. She indicated that the incident had occurred while she and the friend were inside a vehicle in the parking lot of The Rink, 2535 Highway 43 South, Leoma.

The victim, age fourteen, told deputies that the friend was sitting in the car and believed that he was “mocking her,” so she “shoved the door open, striking him in the face.” As a result, his front tooth was broken. After striking the young teen, he reports that the friend then proceeded to make threats of bodily harm toward him.

Reports indicate that no charges were placed at the time reports were filed, however detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to delve into the matter to determine whether assault charges are warranted.
