Last School Snow Day Has Been Used
With weather forecasters predicting possible snow accumulation overnight Tuesday, lots of parents are wondering whether the school days youngsters have missed to-date must be made up.
The National Weather Service is predicting snow will fall upon Lawrence County overnight Tuesday, with possible accumulation of one to two inches. They say it is likely the area could see another inch of accumulation on Wednesday.
Officials with the Lawrence County School System indicate that during the planning stage, a total of eight days were built into the calendar for the 2010-2011 school year; days that could be missed in the event of inclement weather, widespread illness, etc. At this point, they explain, students have already been absent from the classroom for eight days.
While students will not be required to make up any of the days missed thus far, make up days must be scheduled for any additional forced absences.
