Council Votes To Make Portion Of Centennial Boulevard “One-Way”

Lawrenceburg leaders have given initial approval to an ordinance that would change the flow of traffic along Centennial Boulevard.

The ordinance calls for one-way travel on the section of the roadway that is between 257 feet from Mahr Avenue to 337 feet from West Gaines Street. This is the segment that runs in front of the Lawrence County Senior Citizens Center.

Officials said that the change would create a safer zone for crossing and also allow for additional parking directly in front of the center.

If the ordinance is approved on final reading, officials will erect barricades with “Do Not Enter” signs. Those found in violation would be subject to citation and a fine “not more than that allowed by state law.”

The council will consider second and final passage of the ordinance during their February 14, 2013 meeting.
