Leaders Still Working To Fund Marquee Repair Project

Although progress is slow, Lawrenceburg leaders are continuing to work on a plan to repair the marquee at the Old Crockett Theater.

Members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council have held several discussions regarding the repair project.

The project was included in a list of public works projects for which the council obtained $300 million in General Obligation Bonds in April.

A total of $200,000 was earmarked for the marquee project. At this point leaders also plan to apply for grant funds to offset associated costs.

The first step in the project will be having the marquee inspected. At that point leaders will be better able to determine actual repair costs.

One consideration is that the marquee uses incandescent light bulbs that are no longer available. A change to a different type of bulb will have to be included in the cost estimate.

Although the marquee may have to be removed from the building for repair, leaders say that no changes will be made. Once repairs are finished the marquee will retain its current appearance.
