Fugitive Captured And Meth Lab Dismantled
Components of a meth lab were seized when local law enforcement agents made their way to a Smith Avenue home in the hopes of arresting a fugitive of justice Wednesday.
Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore reported Thursday that agents with her department had received information regarding a fugitive of justice who was allegedly staying at homes on the street; most commonly at 1021 Smith Avenue.
Moore indicates there were active warrants on file against the fugitive, Casey Lee Adams, age 27, of Summertown, on charges of violation of probation as well as methamphetamine-related charges.
When they arrived at the home, officers report asking those present about a strong odor of burned marijuana permeating from the home.
They indicate that Justin Matthew Melton, age 21, of Summertown, then handed over a tin that contained marijuana and rolling papers.
Agents gained consent to conduct a search of the premises. During the search they report finding numerous items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine.
As a result, the three individuals present were placed under arrest. Agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency were dispatched to the scene along with members of the Hazardous Materials Team, in order to properly conduct the cleanup process.
The trio, Melton, Brittany Danielle Lutz, 19, of Lawrenceburg, and Roland Sundance Russell, 32, of Lawrenceburg, were each charged with promotion of the process to manufacture methamphetamine.
Melton was additionally charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They are scheduled for an initial appearance through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on February 5, 2010.
While Adams was not found to be on the property, Moore reports he was apprehended next door at 1023 Smith Avenue where he was found hiding inside a bedroom.
Adams has been given a February 5 court date, as well.
