Fiancee’s Parents Charged In Death Of Clifton Mom

A Wayne County couple has been charged with murdering a young Clifton mother whom they reported had disappeared Thursday, January 14, 2010, while en route to Lawrenceburg.

According to Wayne County Sheriff Ric Wilson, the couple reported Saturday that Rose Goggins, age 21, was missing from her home in the Beech Creek community.

They indicated she had last been seen when she left for her first EMT class, to be held that date on the Lawrenceburg campus of Columbia State Community College. They indicated that she never made it to her destination.

Goggins’ car was found Friday, January 15, abandoned and burned beyond recognition along a logging road in rural McNairy County. There was no sign of Goggins.

Goggins resided with her fiancee’s parents, along with the couple’s ten-month-old son, Aiden. Fiance Steven Beersdorf, who is currently stationed at Camp Shelby Mississippi, is slated to deploy to Iraq on February 6.

Continued investigation in the case lead authorities to discover that Goggins was, in fact, deceased. Wilson reported that the fiancee’s parents, Steven Ray Beersdorf, 46, and Sylvia Beersdorf, 43, had each been jailed under one count of first degree murder. The couple is being held without bond at the Lawrence County Jail.

As of Thursday morning Goggins’ body had not been recovered, however Wilson said search efforts were continuing.
