Elderly Summertown Resident Perishes In Tractor Accident

An elderly resident of Brace Road in the Summertown area perished Monday when he fell from his tractor and became trapped underneath.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the accident scene at 189 Brace Road where they spoke with the victim’s wife and son. Frances Walker told deputies that her husband, Marvin William Walker, age 85, had left their home around 2:00 p.m. to bush hog a field beside their home. When he had not returned by around 3:30 p.m., she telephoned her son, Marvin R. Walker, to look for him.

The younger Walker told deputies he walked the field until he found the tractor. He stated that the tractor was still running and that his father had apparently fallen from it and become trapped beneath a wheel, in the mud. The wheel, he reported, was spinning atop his father. He indicated that he turned the tractor off, then went back to place a 911 call.

Emergency medical personnel quickly arrived on the scene, confirming that Walker was deceased.
