Lawrenceburg Woman Sustains Broken Jaw While Intervening In Fight

Law enforcement officers launched an investigation late last week when they were summoned to a medical facility regarding a woman who was injured while attempting to intervene in a fight amongst a group of strangers.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Rapid Care Clinic Thursday afternoon where they spoke with victim Christy Leigh Porter, age 29 of Remke Road, Lawrenceburg. She stated that the incident had occurred while she and her husband were riding four wheelers in the Ridge Road area of West Point.

Porter said that they had stopped for a bit and that a group of people nearby began to fight amongst themselves. She said that she had tried to put an end to the ruckus. While standing between two of the men involved, she said one of the men threw a punch at the other, striking her on the left jaw instead.

Porter said she had no idea who the men were. The man by whom she was struck, she said, was a white male between 30 and 35 years of age. She said he was dressed at the time in coveralls with his face covered.

Medical personnel reported to deputies that Porter was being treated for an apparent broken jaw.

Investigation in the matter has been turned over to detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
