Burglars Scared Away By Resident

A Summertown resident reportedly scared away two men who had attempted to burglarize her home while she was inside Wednesday night.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department show that deputies responded to the Depot Street, Summertown home just before 11:00 p.m.

The resident reported that while she was watching television in her bedroom she heard a loud noise in an adjacent bedroom and her dog began barking frantically.

The resident reported that she went to check out the noise and found that a window pane was missing and two men were running away from her house, heading south on Depot Street. She said she opened the front door and her dog chased after them.

Deputies found that a window screen had been cut and one of the glass panes lowered. They found that a screen on a kitchen window had been cut, as well, however it appeared that the pair were unsuccessful in their attempt to gain entry.

The resident reported nothing appeared to be missing. Damages were estimated to total $50.
