Clerks Refuse To Accept Counterfeit Bills

Clerks at a local convenience store filed a police report during the weekend after patrons attempted to pass counterfeit bills at the location.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to a market in the Dunn community around 10:30 Sunday morning. The two clerks reported that two women had come into the store the previous day and attempted to pay for their purchases with two counterfeit $5.00 bills.

The clerks reported they immediately realized the bills were fake, then verified their suspicions by marking them with a marker designed to detect such counterfeits. They told officers that the women paid for their purchases with legitimate bills. They then told the clerks they did not know what to do with the counterfeit bills, and left them at the business.

Officers reported both bills appeared to have been made using a color copying machine. Both, they said, bore the same serial number.
