Summertown Resident Incurs Vandalism Damages

Law enforcement officials were summoned to investigate last week when a resident of the Summertown area discovered vandalism to both his home and vehicle.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to investigate the incident, which occurred at 76 Alexander Springs Road.

The complainant reported that someone had knocked out the frame of a door on a house his son was building. Once gaining access to the interior of the structure, deputies report that the culprit poured oil on the sub-flooring and threw screws about the floor area.

The complainant also reported that he and his son had discovered that their 1986 Lincoln Towncar, that had been housed inside an unsecured barn on the property, had also been vandalized.

Deputies report that the culprit had busted the front, rear, and one side window out of the car. They also found a rock sitting on the hood which had caused scratches. Deputies reported finding footprints on the hood and roof of the car.

In addition to the damages, the complainant reported that he had found a pair of Kobalt pliers lying beside the battery of his bulldozer. The pliers, he reported, do not belong to him or his son.

Altogether, deputies estimate damages to the car to total $1,000. At the time reports were filed, a dollar amount had not been assessed in regards to the damages to the structure.

Presently, the matter remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
