Resident’s Actions Lead To Arrest In Burglary Case
A Loretto resident who arrived home last week to find a burglar on the premises was able to provide law enforcement officials with information that ultimately led to an arrest.
The resident requested dispatch of Lawrence 
County Sheriff’s deputies to his Bishop Road home on Friday. He reported coming home for lunch to find a man breaking in. He said that when he confronted the man they became engaged in an altercation and that the man crashed into both his house and vehicle as he fled.
Department detectives report that the resident was able to provide them with a description of the man, a partial license plate number, and a photo of the vehicle that he snapped as the man was fleeing.
They were able to use this information to identify as a suspect Shannon Dale Brewer, a thirty-four year old resident of Lexington, Alabama.
Detectives report they were able to utilize, “Contacts and support from authorities within the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office and learned Shannon Dale Brewer had a lengthy criminal record and was wanted by Alabama law enforcement for unrelated charges.”
As a result of the investigation Brewer was arrested at his 120 Cool Springs Road, Lexington home on Tuesday and transported back to Tennessee. He was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center on charges that include aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and felony vandalism.
Brewer was incarcerated in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Lauderdale County authorities have placed a hold on him. Once he has answered for his crimes here, he will be transported to Lauderdale County to face charges pending in that jurisdiction.
A press release issued through the department states, “Investigators credit the quick actions of the homeowner and the support from the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office in bringing this case to a quick resolution.”
