Donations Needed For Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Lawrence County Public Library group is preparing to host it’s bi-annual book sale, and is still in dire need of donations.

Library Director Teresa Newton said Tuesday that, to date, donations for the February sale are still running low.

The group hosts the sale twice annually in order to raise funds to cover the many and varied expenses that are not covered under the library budget. The funds are used to purchase programming and materials for the facility.

According to Newton, not only books are needed, but also magazines, videos, DVDs, audio books, and, she says, “Jigsaw puzzles sell surprisingly well this time of year.”

The sell is slated to take place during normal library hours, Saturday, February 2 through Saturday, February 9. On those days citizens are invited to stop by and peruse the sale items.

At this time, however, library officials are requesting that residents consider donating items for the sale. Donations need to be made as soon as possible to allow time for the books to be sorted and priced.

Residents may drop off donations at the library during business hours.

If you need someone to pick up your donated items, please contact us by email at:  info@lawrenceburgnow.com, or at 931-629-2181.
