Chili Cook-Off On The Lawrenceburg Square
Main Street Lawrenceburg, in conjunction with the Lawrenceburg Firefighter’s Association, is pleased to announce the first ever “Lawrence County Firehouse Chili Cook-Off” to be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 on the Downtown Lawrenceburg Square.
The new event will act as a fundraiser for Lawrence County’s nonprofit volunteer fire departments.
The Firehouse Chili Cook-Off welcomes participating volunteer fire departments to the Downtown Square and offers the public the chance to sample some of the region’s best chili. Admission to the event is $5 per person and includes a chili bowl, spoon, and unlimited chili while supplies last. Tickets will be available beginning at 5 p.m. at the Downtown Gazebo.
“We’re excited and honored to bring another fun and family friendly event to Downtown,” stated Main Street President Ben Luna. “This event not only brings attention to our beautiful square, it goes the extra mile by serving as a fundraiser for those who put their lives on the line for our community everyday.”
Participation is also open to any business, community organization, or church. Booth spaces, that will line the downtown square, are available now for a $50 donation. Each participating group is required to provide 5 gallons of chili for the evening and a table to serve from.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in two categories, a fire division for local departments and a public division for all other entries.
All proceeds will be divided evenly among Lawrence County volunteer fire agencies that take part.
