Doss Appointed To House Health, Business & Utilities Committees

Representative Barry Doss has today been named to the powerful House Health Committee, as well as the House Business and Utilities Committee for the 108th General Assembly. Both committees will play a key role in the upcoming legislative session.

“I am honored to be appointed to these committees by House Speaker Beth Harwell,” said Rep. Doss. “I appreciate her confidence in me, and I thank the people of Lawrence and Giles Counties for allowing me this opportunity to serve."

Legislation referred to the Health Committee is relevant to three major topical areas:  mental health, public health, and human services. The committee may also consider legislation relating to hospitals and other health or welfare institutions.

The Business and Utilities Committee considers bills relating to utilities, communications, and legislation impacting trade. The committee will also review the rules and regulations for all licensed professions, businesses, and organizations.

“The fiscal stability of our state is now more important than ever and I want to assure the people of our community that I will uphold my pledge of balancing our state budget while also reducing the size and scope of state government,” Doss concluded.

Barry Doss is serving his first term in the legislature. He represents District 70, which includes Lawrence and Giles Counties.
